2016 goals/resolutions/thoughts

For part of 2015, I was working on my 23 before 23 list. That was my first bucket list, and I really enjoyed working on it and seeing the progress I made on it. But after I finished, I knew that I wasn't going to do a 24 before 24 list; I knew I wanted to make adjustments.

For one thing, I wanted to switch from birth year to calendar year because it's easier to say "In 2015 I . . . " than "In my twenty-third year I . . . ". (This switch means I've had a much less eventful second half of the year . . . with no new list to propel me forward, I've pretty much just been working on one thing--decorating the house!)

The other main thing I wanted to change was how many tasks and the timeframe for said tasks. I mentioned this after I finished up my 23 list, but giving a year-long timeframe for several tasks just didn't really work for me. So in 2016, I'm going to have a huuuuge list of possibilities, but each month, I'll choose just one to work on (I guess I could choose a second if I finish the first), so that by the end of the year I can hopefully have at least eleven concrete things to show for the year (maybe twelve, but hey, it's already February and I'm just barely getting this post done!).

I do have some main goals that I want to permeate the whole year. I know goals are supposed to be specific and these are kind of vague, but oh well. I think it depends on the goal, and maybe I'll be more specific when I'm thinking about them personally rather than posting about them publicly.
  • Center my life in Christ
  • Be more healthy
    • exercise regularly, eat less junk and more healthy stuff
  • Be happier and enjoy right NOW
  • Get more organized in every aspect of my life
  • Fully finish decorating the house and installing the yard

And the things I have to choose from for my one additional task per month are:
  • Cut back on social media usage
  • Focus on consistency
  • Come up with a meal-planning strategy
  • Pick an annual party to throw
  • Try something new
  • Read a book

  • Take a class that’s totally out of my element, like improv, golf, or pottery-making
  • Unplug for a full day, or maybe even a full weekend or week

  • Start a New Year’s tradition
  • Visit the Red Butte Gardens
  • Get parents’ VHS tapes onto DVD
  • Digitize all photos before 2003

  • Go one month without getting fast food
  • Go for tea at the Grand America
  • Mail a care package
  • Throw a surprise party
  • Meet up with Laynah again
They are a bunch of random things, but they all have some element of fun or importance to me. I obviously won't get them all done this year, but like I said, hopefully eleven or twelve of them at least :) And then I can just keep going next year! Plus I can add to it whenever :) Where should I start? :)

What are your biggest or most frivolous goals this year? Both are important, I think :)

  1. My biggest goal this year is for my husband and I to go to the Temple and be sealed! We're finally Temple-worthy, so we're praying! Frivolously? I'd like to succeed with my little shop :)

I think serious AND fun goals are both important, too :)
