superhuman abilities

**The other night, Russ and I had an interesting conversation with Russ's dad. The following post is inspired by that conversation, and many of the ideas came from Trent. What defines a superhero? We make movies about them and write books about them, but why? Probably because they are superhuman in some way, like they can fly or teleport or they have incredible strength. These are all things that normal humans obviously can't do, so we are fascinated with the idea of someone being able to do those things. But that's not all that makes a superhero. Because the villains usually have superhuman abilities as well. So what, then, is the difference? The difference is really just that superheroes use their abilities for good, while villains use theirs for evil. Superheroes use their abilities to help, serve, and save others, while villains use theirs for personal gain and usually the destruction of others. The awesome thing about superheroes is that we can actually

a perfect weekend

I mentioned this last year , but guys, I love  Valentine's Day. I think it's fun to celebrate love, even if everyone else is celebrating love that day, too. This year was super fun because I actually started planning it like 5 months ago, and Russ had no idea until about a week before that anything at all was going on, and even then, all I said was, "I'm planning a Valentine's something for Friday, February 13. Plan accordingly." (aka, don't plan anything else that night.) So on Thursday night I was running around like a crazy person trying to get everything ready for Friday, and with the help of my mom, I did it. When Russ got to work on Friday, this is what he saw on his desk: His response when he got there? "You sneaky lil lady :)" Haha I loved it :) So each hour he opened a present containing a clue about what we were going to be doing to celebrate Valentine's Day, but I didn't want the clues to be too easy, so mostly they we

let's talk about babies.

If you happen to stalk my 23 before 23 list (I know I do . . . I gotta remember everything I still have to do in just 3 short months!!) , you may have noticed 3. Make a baby. Well, folks, the reason I haven't written about it yet is not for lack of trying to make it happen. I went off birth control (a birth control which was supposed to have no effect on my ability to get pregnant afterward) in June 2014 and so far, no baby. It was shortly after we went of birth control that I posted about my fear of infertility . I remember thinking I am going to sound so dumb if I come back in 3 weeks and say, well I guess that fear had no basis! I'm pregnant!  But I wasn't pregnant 3 weeks later, or even 3 months later. Then we kind of took a break from September until the end of December because my family planned a really exciting trip for June 2015 (for which I cannot be more than 24 weeks pregnant) . . . we didn't go on any sort of birth control again, but we just didn'
