weekend fun {friends, yardwork, housewarming, & spontaneous cabin trips}

We had soooo much fun last weekend! I think it's because we really filled it with lots of fun and friends! We had a date on Friday that involved hanging out with some of our really good friends, and then on Saturday we got to work in the yard, go to a housewarming party for Lacey, and a cabin with Kristalyn and Luis!

We bought our house brand new, so we got no yard to speak of. Since that's an added expense and we didn't work quickly enough last year, that's on the agenda for this spring. I'm actually super excited! We've started making plans and now we've finally started to do a little bit of work! Nothing too huge yet, but there is concrete, sprinkling systems, sod, plants, and other fun yard additions in our near future. I know it will be a lot of work, but I also think it will feel really good to say "We did that!" Or at least, "Russ did that!" Haha since we all know he's the manpower behind my landscaping dreams ;)

It was so fun to see Lacey's house transformed. We helped her move in about a month ago, and while the structure of the home was really cute, the paint choices were realllllly awful. Like, so much peach. On the ceilings even! So it was really fun to see how it looks now that she painted everything grey and white and even one pop of blue! Her house is so cute and I'm so happy for her :) It was also fun to connect with Dad H since he popped in for the party :)

But the cherry on top to the weekend was a spontaneous trip to the cabin with Kristalyn and Luis! I had talked to Kristalyn on Friday and I knew she was surprising Luis with the cabin trip, but then they called us up late in the afternoon on Saturday (right as we were about to head up to Salt Lake for the housewarming party) and asked if we wanted to join them for the night! It would have been a fun trip no matter what, but truly the spontaneity made it even better :) We basically packed up some pajamas, games, and movies, (and chocolate chips and butterscotch chips) and called it good! The cabin is up in the mountains and although the weather had been nice that day, it was nice and snowy where the cabin was! We bundled up to make the 15 minute hike from the parking lot to the actual cabin. When we got there, we made some Mac'n'Cheese because Russ and I hadn't had dinner yet. Then we played some Guillotine and I made Russ super mad because I played a card that traded my crappy 4-card hand for his wonderful 8- or 9-card hand. Haha he got over it . . . eventually! Then we all watched The Adjustment Bureau and I was reminded how much I absolutely love that movie. We also took an intermission for some midnight brownies which were amazing :) It was so fun to just keep going and going with fun things until 1am. Haha we never do that! And we had so much fun that we didn't even get any pictures of the experience *insert crying emoji*

The next morning, we woke up and made pancakes (hence the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips!) and eggs for breakfast, and we just chatted a bit before packing up and heading out. I love those people and I'm so glad they thought to invite us up to share the weekend with them :) It was the best!
