Have you ever read this book? I remember loving it when I was a kid. When Russ and I got married, his sister generously gave us her futon because she didn't want/need it anymore. It worked perfectly because it was grey, and the color scheme for our living room was black, grey, and red. Well, it worked perfectly except for the fact that Russ complained about how uncomfortable it was every time he sat on it ;) So about a week ago, we decided to finally get a couch. We had four criteria: aesthetically pleasing, very comfortable, reasonable cost, and big enough to fit four people (for when we have friends over). After much searching and many irritating salespeople trying to get a piece of the commission, we found a winner! But when we brought it back to our apartment, we still had the futon up, so we got to see what the apartment would look like with an L-shaped formation of couches: more seating, more cozy, and more separate from the kitchen.  And we liked it.  A

Along with having a goal of going on more dates this year, Russ and I also have a goal to use dates to get more cultured . . . so we're going to try to go on one date per month that is somehow cultural--whether that means we learn about a different culture, or just do activities that we don't normally do (and maybe don't even normally like) in order to broaden our horizons and our hobbies. Well, it was our last opportunity to go on a cultural date in January, and it was my turn to plan, so I chose the easy and free route: International Cinema. In case you don't go to BYU and have no clue what that is, it's basically a small movie theater on campus that shows three different foreign or cultural films per week. If the films are in a foreign language, there are English subtitles. Russ took German in high school, so I picked the German film, called Shultze gets the Blues . It's about a man who recently retired from coal mining and ends up traveling to Am

Russ and I recently made some new years resolutions, one of which was to really get back to dating each other. Throughout our marriage, we've done a lot of hanging out, but not so much dating . Who knew the hanging out vs. dating problem still existed after marriage! Since we're both so busy now, the time we get together is really important, so we want to spend that time dating as much as we can :) We're going to switch off planning our dates, so Russ was up first. On Wednesday, he took me to a restaurant neither of us had ever been to because he found a groupon for it. It was such a cool place! It's called Dave and Cranky's, with a live violinist and a hipster atmosphere. Hipster isn't really our style, but I liked it anyway. It's a small restaurant, and you can see the kitchen from your seat. It's kind of expensive, and the food takes a long time to get to you. BUT. The food is great. I felt like Queen Latifa in Last Holiday when she goes to th

back

I'm ba-ackkkkkk! Well, maybe. Truthfully, it's been really nice just living my life without thinking at all about whether or not certain events in my life are blogworthy.  But, I do enjoy blogging, I just have to be better about organizing my time so that I have time for blogging along with work, school, cooking, cleaning, and just loving my man. Lots to fit :)  So who knows how consistent I'll be, but I will get back to posting bits and pieces of my wonderful life ;) The update for the past three weeks?  Well, Christmas was pretty crazy because we didn't get to spend much time at our own place (we balanced a lot of the time between both of our families). We loved spending so much time with family, but there is something to be said about how great it is to have your own space with the person you love most in the whole world. We're happy to be settled back into our home :) Winter semester started last Monday and I'm going to try to love this semester!
