holly b {7 months}

Stats
  • size 3 diapers
  • size 3-6 month clothing fits great still. I'll probably pull down the 6-9 month box soon just for more options though!
  • 15.4 pounds (23%), 26.5 inches (51%)
Notable events
  • We finally did your baby blessing! With church canceled the last several months, it just kind of fell off the radar. We did the blessing in our home, with only grandparents and our bishop. All the pictures were super cute because you're so smiley!

Tricks/Milestones
  • You started rolling from tummy to back right after you turned 6 months, on 6/24. Now you just roll all over the place! :)
  • You aren't doing it as much lately, but for the first couple weeks of the month, you were blowing raspberries all the time.
  • We started you on solids right after you turned 6 months, and it's crazy to see how far you've come! We're following a progressive approach to BLW, so we started with tiny tastes, and now we've moved from tiny tastes, to thickened purees, to fork-mashed solids, to some real bites. At first, even the tastes were hard for you to figure out, and now, less than 4 weeks later, you're doing great with bites full of texture and flavor!
  • We started teaching signs, but I'm not great at always using them. We're only working on a few: milk, water, food, more, and all done/gone.
  • Close to sitting independently, but not quite there yet!
  • Sleeping through the night! More details later on.
Favorite things
  • Ada goes to bed around 6:45/7, and you go to bed around 7:15/30, so you're typically around for Ada's bedtime routines. You always lay next to her during the song (last part of the routine) and Ada always asks if you can just sleep in her bed with her 😍
  • You love playing with the wet wipes package.
  • You (sometimes softly, sometimes not-so-softly) play with my hair while you nurse. It's so cute, as long as you're not pulling! 😂
  • You and Ada are just always laughing together, and it's the cutest. thing. ever!
  • As long as you're fed, burped, and well-rested, you're truly the sweetest baby ever 😍
Random tidbits
  • You fell off the bed 😬  I thought I positioned you safely to leave for just a minute to help Ada, but you very quickly used your newly-acquired rolling skills to roll off the bed. Sorry girlie!
  • Just like Ada, most of your hair fell out, but one chunk stayed in. Ada had an emo bang thing going on, but your patch is more in the middle of your head, which looks good for now, but we'll see as all your hair grows! :)
  • Since you started eating solids, you get bathed much more frequently, but I've found that the best way to do it is just to feed you in a diaper and then put you in the sink after to spray you down.
  • Since you started sleeping through the night, your first feed of the morning is the longest. It's also just the two of us for that, because no one else comes downstairs so early. I love those morning moments with you . . . it's just a sweet time. Sometimes when you finish nursing, you just look up at me and smile so, so sweetly 😍
  • I kinda hoped adding solids in would mean I wouldn't have to supplement anymore, but that's not the case. I still give you 4-8 oz over the course of a day. Plus, you STTN may be dropping my supply. I definitely don't feel as full in the mornings as I did when you first started sleeping through.
  • Sleep is great!! I moved you over to clock naps, and the transition went pretty well. It took about a week, but then you've pretty consistently taken full naps at the designated times. So typically you wake between 6:20&6:45am (I wake you at 6:45 if you're not awake already), you go down for nap 1 between 8:45 and 9am and you nap until 10:45 nearly every day (I wake you by 10:45 if you're not awake already). Then for nap 2, you go down between 12:45 and 1:05pm. Usually closer to 1 since I almost always have to wake you up from nap 1 (aka, we have to get enough waketime in there before nap 2!). Often, I have to wake you up at 2:20/25 to preserve nap 3, but nap 2 is the most unpredictable. Sometimes it ends up being short, so nap 3 gets moved up and ends up a little longer. Nap 3 is typically at 4:25, but sometimes earlier if nap 2 was short. Again, I almost always have to wake you up around 5/5:15pm. Bedtime is usually 7:30pm. Overall awake time turns out to be about 9 hours. You typically fall asleep peacefully within about 5 minutes, but occasionally take up to 15 minutes. Shortly after we started solids, you slept through the night for the first time! But it wasn't every night. However, anytime you'd have a nightfeed, you'd eat like crap for the first feed of the morning, so for 3 nights we let you cry a little in the night, and then you've been sleeping through since then. It wasn't even a ton of crying -- 50 minutes on the longest night, and never constant crying. Now we're both enjoying 11-hour nights!! 😁
