a christmas visit from granny b and papa t
For the first several years of our marriage, we've alternated holidays with both our families. So in 2012 we did Thanksgiving with Russ's family and Christmas with mine, in 2013 we did Thanksgiving with my family and Christmas with Russ's, and so on. However, since we've now decided to stay home for Christmas each year, things can get a little unbalanced since my parents (and two siblings and their families) live 20 minutes away so we'll inevitably see them, no matter which holiday it is, and Russ's parents live 6 hours away. Luckily, we live near two of Russ's siblings, and Russ's parents can fly down on a whim since Russ's dad is a pilot. So we took advantage of that reality and invited Russ's parents down for a few days so that we got to spend some time with them this Christmas, too :)
I wanted to do fun things with them while they were here, but somehow, all of the ideas I came up with ahead of time didn't seem appealing during their stay 🙈 So we ended up having a pretty chill couple of days together. We mostly played games, talked, and ate food together. But we also helped Lance and Mackenzi move, watched a Christmas movie (Last Holiday), and briefly saw the lights at the Riverwoods (because, COLD).
Also, on their first night here, they stayed here with Ada so that Russ and I could go see the Redux-Nutcracker, so that was very nice of them :)
It was a short visit (2 days), but as always, we enjoyed being together :) I'm so grateful for a wonderful second family!
