holly b {15 months}

Stats

  • 21 pounds even (24%) (Ada was also 21 pounds even at 15 months!)
  • 30 inches (32%)
  • Size 3 diapers (double diapering at night, and I think I'll size up the next time I buy diapers because they're seeming small lately)
  • 12-18 month clothes. A lot of the 12-month stuff is getting too small.

Words
In addition to "mama" and "dada," which she was saying at 12 months, she now says:

  • hi (more like "hi hi hi hi hi!")
  • go
  • uh oh
  • thank you (she did it a few times but hasn't much lately)
  • all done (also not doing this one much anymore)
  • cheese (for pictures)
  • She just started saying "bye bye" but with G sounds haha (guy guy)
  • No

Milestones

  • Started cruising along furniture like two days after her birthday
  • She has eight teeth! And the 5th and 6th teeth to come in were parts of her top (I think) molars! . . . they're like way back there!
  • Started going DOWN stairs around 13-14 months.
  • She took her first steps on 2/16 (14 months), and started standing up on her own and taking more steps just recently. She'll probably be a full-time walker by 16 months.

  • She says "more" and "all done" in sign language. Sometimes she says "please"
  • She joins her hands together when we tell her it's time to pray 😍 (this is pretty recent)
  • Waving, giving high fives, and blowing kisses.
  • She's mastered the back float at swimming lessons!
  • I'm putting her food on a plate/bowl more often these days. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes she throws the plate and I regret giving her one 🙈

Obsessions

  • WATER. Seriously it seems like she's always thirsty based on how much she wants everyone's water. She's fine with her 360 go cup, but she prefers mine and Ada's contigo water bottles.
  • Waving and saying hi to people. Anytime I pull out a phone, she's waving and saying hi in case I'm marco poloing or facetiming. At the grocery store, she says hi to everyone we see. It's so dang cute.
  • She's started attaching to different things. First it was a small green stuffed bear from Grandma's house. Then the stuffed dog we gave her for Vday. And also her sleep sack.
  • Toothbrushes
  • Slides! She loves them! There are even a few that she can climb all the way up the equipment and go down all by herself, which is super fun for both of us!

Random tidbits

  • I was singing "Jingle Bells" (when she was 13 months) and I sang, "Dashing through the snow, in a one-horse open sleigh, o'er the fields we go . . ." and she said "ha ha ha" 😂 So she were a little early ("laughing all the way, ha ha ha"), but she was on top of things! So funny.
  • Thankfully she's mostly past this, but for a while, she would get a drink of water and then just spit it out. She was always soaking her clothes!
  • The last thing we do at Ada's bedtime is give her snuggles. For some reason, whenever we lay Holly down on Ada (tummy to tummy), she immediately head butts her!! We've had to take preventative measures so she doesn't hurt Ada or herself!!
  • She is SUCH a cuddly baby, which is a welcome change from her sister as a baby! She is always down to cuddle, especially with me.
  • Speaking of, she is becoming quite the mama's girl. We're working on the parental preference by making sure Dad puts you down for all naps that he can, but there are so many times when she just wants me. Most of the time, I don't mind one bit :)
  • For the last few months, she's done "morning time" in Ada's room with Ada. They're in there together for about an hour every morning. Most mornings, they play and have fun together; sometimes Ada terrorizes Holly and Holly has to be removed for safety purposes.
  • She is so sweet with Ada -- if Ada is ever crying, Holly will crawl over and touch her softly or pat her back. It's adorable 😍
  • Eating: We stopped nursing right around 13 months. I'm going to get Lasik, but have to be done nursing for 3 months before I can even get a consultation, so that's mostly why we stopped. She was sad about it, and pulled at my shirt for the first 3 days or so, but then of course got over it. However, if I ever hold her in just a garment top, sometimes she still pulls at it! As for table food, she's much pickier than Ada was. She loves fruit, but she's not much of a fan of vegetables. She loves some main dishes I make, and hates others. She throws any food she doesn't want off her tray. We don't eat snacks in our house, so she used to get fussy between meals sometimes, but now her body must be used to when we eat, because she does just fine!
  • Sleep: Basic schedule is: 6:30am - out of bed. 9-10:15am - nap 1. 1-3pm - nap 2. 7pm - bed. However, more and more, she's taking longer to fall asleep for naps or bedtime, or she's waking up around 6am. But she's happy to stay in her crib, so I won't be changing anything just yet!
